Giovanni Spezzacatena

Giovanni Spezzacatena (the surname means ‘chain-breaker’ in Italian) moved to Powell River in 2006, in part due to the promising local food movement here. Giovanni gained an MFA in film animation from Montreal’s Concordia University in 1996, has taught animation, film, web design, etc. at the university, college and high-school levels since 1997 in Montreal, Seattle and (albeit less so) in Powell River.

Giovanni (aka Rabideye) has maintained a small independent design business Rabideye.com since 2000. He also helps run the 50-Mile Eat Local Challenge/Edible Garden Tour. He has a radio program on CJMP Powell River Community Radio, called Sunshine Yellow (Sat. 10am-noon) and helps out with CJMP’s site/social media. Giovanni has been instrumental in developing graphics for Skookum, The Abundant Pantry and the Suncoast brand.
